This Sunday, the day after Passover ends will be the annual Walk for Hunger.  Our Gan Yarok follows directly in the model of feeding the hungry, so if any of you are up for a ten mile walk, consider doing "The Walk" on Sunday!

Hello Gardeners!

I thought that I would make you aware of an organization who, on a much larger scale, is doing what we will be trying to do this summer!
This organization is called Gaining Ground and is located in Lincoln. Take a look at their story!

First Visit to Gan Yarok:Shaarei's Community Garden

April 10, 2016

First Visit to the Gan Yarok!

Six energetic people went to the garden to do some spring cleaning! Thanks to Ruth Ehrlich, Vickie Lyons, Daniel Millewich, David Wilensky,  Felice Whittum and Emma Stitcher for removing brush and weeds from the garden plot, which was overgrown!

A note of caution to those working in the garden: BEWARE OF TICKS!
Wear long pants and make sure to check yourself when you leave the garden.

Last night I found a wonderful web gardening application called Zukkini.com and began to plan the set up of the garden, including the vegetables we will plant and its layout.

For a link to this garden, please go to:

Since we are still in the "experimental" stage, let me know if you are unable to access it.  We'd also love your input!

Please don't forget to sign up for a week of garden care.  Here is the link to our signupgenius account....

We still have most of July and August in need of GTLC (Garden TLC).

Thanks,
